Great Breakfast on Sunday Mornings

Wow! Wow! Wow! The owner Don and his wife Ann have gone all the way. If you can dive and you are in Florida you know that means Hog fish, and Stone Crabs. Consequently for breakfast my wife Molly had a Stone Crab omelet and I had Hog fish fillet with home fries and sunny side up. So run don't walk to Breakfast at the Pig while these are in season!

I eat breakfast here once a month, the shrimp and grits are my favorite. Portions are hearty , yet presented beautifully. I have brought my dog during the cooler months and we sit outside at a picnic table on the porch.

Since moving to Tampa 18 years ago, we have been looking this whole time for breakfast place where the food is great but also has a unique breakfast menu. We found it at the Pig. They do the traditional items better than other places - the gravy on the country fried steak is the best I've tasted. But they also provide unique items that change from week to week - Lobster or Stone Crab Omelets, brisket hash, shrimp and grits as well as different pastry and bakery items each week. Make sure you try their various jams. Be sure to ask about entertainment - they have bands for certain holidays and for some other non-holidays.

What an amazing breakfast destination! Finally, a real breakfast chef for the greater Palm Harbor area. Where else can you find a fresh stone crab omelette with homemade hollandaise, or a hot triple berry muffin with vanilla bean glaze? The real gem though, is the "specials menu" which changes every week depending on various in season seafood and the whims of a very passionate and talented family of owners.

If you are looking for awesome home-made food in a great atmosphere, then look no further! Every week there are new creations on the specials menu made with whatever fresh ingredients the owners have found that week. Last week I had the Cajun omelet with fresh gator meat and thought it was the best omelet I ever had. Then I had the stone crab omelet and I think it might be the best I've ever had. Next week there are rumors of a lobster omelet! If you aren't a seafood person the BBQ dishes are equally awesome. Brisket or pulled pork with eggs and potatoes, yum! For the sweet tooth there is always something special like red velvet waffles or grilled berry muffins. On top of all that, the service is great. Don and his family make you feel right at home. This is by far my favorite breakfast spot in the Tampa area!

I had initially visited "Ozona Pig" (no "the") at this same location, but apparently on certain nights of the week, Ozona Pig becomes THE Ozona Pig, a BBQ Gay Bar! I checked my girlfriend at the door and sat down next to a bunch of healthy looking gentlemen. We listened to a local band playing cover songs of Men at Work, Cher, and Barbara Streisand. The pulled pork was as good as always, and our server, Fawn, had a fabulous moustache! NOTE: The root beer on Gay Bar night at The Ozona Pig didn't taste any different. 10/10 would visit again! Does NOT look like a gay bar from the outside, but it's VERY hopping for the Palm Harbor gay community inside. And if you read this far, there is no Ozona Pig Gay Bar at this location. Someone has created a duplicate entry for The Ozona Pig.

Decided to try the ribs. Ugh. Gross. Burgers came out burned but tastey (to be fair, we did ask for well done) cheddar cheese is smoked too. My fault, I should've asked. But to me. It's pretty bad. Easy to remove since it's not melted anyway. To recap: Ribs - Horrible French Fries - Crap Can't believe they're in business at all. Never, ever going back. I still have that foul taste in my mouth... Ugh

My husband is the delivery driver for Ozona Pig and he wanted me to try it. It's an hour and a half drive from our house, but worth the drive! I had the BBQ sandwich and fries and ordered an extra side of Mac n cheese. The fries were crispy and very hot! Freshly made. The mac n cheese was my absolute favorite! Very cheesy and delicious. My husband got the brisket plate with green beans and Mac n cheese. I loved the chunks of ham in the green beans! It's a very small, country joint with a lot of character. Great place!

We love The Ozona Pig. Even though it is such a small location, they use their space well. We recently ordered take out. It has been my 3rd experience with them after dining - in, twice, previously. The food and drinks are so delicious. We love to mix the different BBQ sauces to make our own individual spicy-sweet-vinegar taste combinations. You really can smell and taste the smoke all throughout the meat. Sometimes they will run out of popular meats. Don't be mad if this happens. They run a great restaurant with attentive & long-term workers. The space restraints may limit their ability to keep ingredients in stock. My other half loves how big their smoked ribs are! The banana pudding is a thick, sweet treat and it is topped with cool whip. They actually have sweet tea which is somehow hard to find in most restaurants even though we live in the south. Good ol' American BBQ. You know this is the place to go for BBQ because of the life-sized pig statue under their sign! They now also serve one of my favorite beers- Barley Mow's Americana golden ale.
